When Aneesh joined DECA his freshman year, he never thought very much of it. However, over the span of two years, DECA certainly proved him wrong. It has been a life changing experience, and has helped him through all aspects of his life. Outside of DECA, Aneesh enjoys playing tennis, doing taekwondo, and volunteering. As an officer this year, his main goal is to improve chapter connectivity between apprentice's and competitors. Ultimately by achieving this goal, he wants to create a more successful WHS DECA. Iris Yen is a senior at Washington high school. DECA has been highly influential in her high school career in serving as a catalyst for an increase in her speaking abilities, confidence, and work ethic. Outside of DECA, she enjoys playing basketball and volunteering at various organizations. This year, as VP of leadership, she hopes to take the WHS DECA chapter to new heights and complete the chapter campaigns for the 2017-2018 school year!

Sana Abbas is currently a senior and has been an active DECA member for four years. Words don't do justice to the impact DECA has made on Sana. Through this organization, she found her voice, gained valuable life skills, and shaped her post-secondary educational goals. Aside from DECA, Sana loves playing soccer, volunteering in her local community, and spending time with family. Serving as your VP of Career Development, Sana hopes to help peers of all learning styles find their voice and escel in competition.

Shashvat Patel is currently a junior who has been in DECA for 2 years. He has created many friendships and connections through this club. It has helped him find his interests in business and has made him more confident. Outside of DECA, Shashvat plays on the volleyball team and loves to listen to music. As Vice President of Finance, he hopes to make your DECA experience fun and affordable so that every student can participate!

Rishika joined WHS DECA her freshmen year, and she's loved all the experiences she's had so far - as apprentice and competitor! She appreciates all the aspects of business she's learned these past two years, and the memories and friends she's made along the way. As VP of Marketing, she hopes to help connect WHS DECA with other chapters, as well as increase communication within the chapter! Outside of school, you'll probably find Rishika dancing, whether it is teaching or preforming. She is excited to work with the officer team and make this year one of the best ones yet!

Sungum Sogani is a junior who joined DECA in his freshman year. DECA has helped him gain confidence, develop stronger leadership skills, and build a strong interest in business. As VP of Hospitality, he aims to guide incoming Apprentices and help teach them concepts that will ensure their success in DECA competitions. Yash Khadilkar is a junior at Washington High School. DECA has heped him become a very confident and perservering individual and helped him develop a strong business core. Lavanya Jain is a junior who has been an active member of DECA since her sophomore year. Throughout her DECA journey, Lavanya has improved her networking skills, and has been exposed to the world of business. Anvi Kunta is currently a junior, and has been part of DECA since her freshmen year. Aside from competition, she believes that DECA is a place for high school students to meet new people, develop valuable skills, and gain exposure in the world of business. Outside of DECA, Anvi enjoys playing tennis and competiting in debate tournaments. This year, as fundraiser director, Anvi hopes to reduce the costs of conferences by initiating new fundraisers that also serve as chapter bonding events.

Pranit Panda is a junior who joined DECA in his sophomore year. His reason for joining is because of the banquet food. DECA has helped him form connections and friendships. As roleplay director, he hopes to make DECA workshops lit and make members get glass for their roleplays. Outside of DECA, he enjoys praying to the lord he is very religious. He also likes memes and has a crippling depression. He doesn't do anything because he realizes that life is futile and he no longer finds pleasure in anything meaningul. He believes in peace, love, and positivity and as a result he has no ill will for anyone (except Mr. Jones). He supports socialist policies and believes that college should be free. He also supports gay people and believes that race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion are all false divisions created by the bourgeois to divide the working class amongst themselves. He likes poptarts.

Pruthvi is a junior who joined DECA in his freshmen year. DECA has helped him learn real-world skills, gain leadership qualities, and connect with others. As Written Events Director, he aims to guide WHS DECA to ensure the success of their written events at competitions. Outside of DECA, Pruthvi loves to play basketball and produce music. Suparn is a sophmore who joined DECA in his freshman year. Suparn hopes to improve the apprentice program at WHS DECA so that the apprentices will have more experience for future events. When Suparn is not involved in DECA he likes to play basketball and watch movies.

Zuhair Imaduddin has been appointed as the NorCal District Action Team's Vice President of Leadership. He hopes to strengthen individual chapter organizations so they can best serve their members. Zuhair has served in multiple leadership positions before including FUSD's Student Board, and the Class of 2019's Freshmen and Sophomore Class President. In his free time, Zuhair enjoys videography, exercising, and being limitless.

Ananya Veeraragavan is a senior who has been part of DECA since her freshman year. This year, Ananya had the honor of being selected to serve as Vice President of Northern California DECA. She hopes to help plan an incredible NorCal CDC and lead the second NorCal district action team. DECA has helped Ananya discover many skills while meeting new people. The States Career Development Conference is an opportunity for you to showcase your skills and excel. Perform well in this conference and you may qualify for DECA ICDC! The conference will start on Friday 3/1 and culminate on Monday 3/4.
Orlando, FL 4/25 to 5/1
If you place at States CDC, you will qualify for ICDC, the DECA International Career Development Conference. It's an exhilarating trip where you get to meet people from all over the world! This year, ICDC will take place in Orlando, Florida!
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
DECA Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit student organization with more than 215,000 members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. The United States Congress, the United States Department of Education and state, district and international departments of education authorize DECA’s programs.
DECA members partake in a variety of competitive events, from role playing interviews and giving speeches, to taking specialized tests and drafting reports, all meant to show proficiency and excellence in the vocational careers they have selected. These members learn valuable skills that will help them succeed in the corporate world and beyond.
Since DECA is a CTSO, the CA Department of Education requires all students to take a CTE course in order to be a member of DECA Inc. The CTE courses provided at Washington High School are Web Design, Marketing, Digital Video and Arts Production, and Business Entrepreneurship. If a student cannot take a CTSE course, the student can become a member of WHS DECA but cannot attend conferences like NorCal, States, and ICDC. The club will organize conferences like MiniCon for these members.
WHS DECA is one of thousands of high school DECA chapters. We are the fourth largest DECA chapter in the Northern California district and are part of California DECA. We regularly compete at Career Development Conferences, such as NorCal, States, and International. Today, we are the premier business organization at Washington High School and continue to grow exponentially.
With the implementation of the New CTE Rule, DECA will be divided into two tiers: DECApprentices and DECompetitors. DECApprentinces are members who aren't enrolled in a CTE course but would like to be still be a part of WHS DECA. These members attend one conference, MiniCon,and will learn the skills used in DECA. DECompetitors are members who are enrolled in a CTE course and as a result will have the opportunity to attend the 3 main conferences: NorCal CDC, States CDC, and International CDC.
